SNOW

Snow
was born and raised in the city projects of Toronto, Canada. While in prison he learned to speak patois from other inmates and from there as a singer he found the love for jamaican music. He studied and sang reggae music with a passion and later made Kingston, Jamaica his second home. After being released from prison he crossed the US border to meet with producer/rapper MC Shan who introduced him to MotorJam's/Elektra Records co founder David Kenneth Eng (also manager) to sign a US recording contract. With the Billboard Pop chart hit "Informer" scoring a straight seven week run at number one then followed by another Billboard top ten hit "Girl I've Been Hurt" and the DJ turntable hit "Lonely Monday Morning" made Snow an international sensation.

On the second album Snow recorded the number one smash hit in Jamaica "Anything for You" featuring Nadine Sutherland, Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Terror Fabulous, Louie Culture, Culture Knox with Producers Tony and Dave Kelly. Banned from the US and touring extensively in asia during the second album he scored another number one hit "Sexy Girl" in Japan. While recording his third album he was banned from Japan but continued to record for his Canadian audience. Recently he has had three number one Canadian hits while waiting to be allowed back into the states. Snow achieved a Guinness Record for selling the biggest Reggae song in history.

MAIA

At 24, Maia is one of Singapore’s fastest rising singing talents, and arguably the most controversial Singaporean celebrity in the recent year.

A former artiste with SAF Music and Drama Company, Maia’s journey into music and performing continued when she got spotted at an audition and, along with her bandmates, played in Hard Rock Café Singapore as the resident act.

A month after, she was spotted, yet again – this time by local dance music whizzes The Usual Suspects. She went on to record three #1 hits with T.U.S. China Girl, Love You Promised, and Sunburn. German musician Cascada hit a chord with The Love You Promised and did a remix, and the song went up the charts in Scandinavia, and received numerous airplay all over Europe as well as Japan and other parts of Asia.

Soon after, Singapore Idol hit the shores and Maia became a household name after becoming one of the finalists. Needless to say, Maia is by no means a stranger to the local media.

With her husky vocals, spunky personality and rebel image, she caught the eyes of local recording label EQ Music.  Consisting of mostly self-penned lyrics, Maia’s debut album, Emotionally Advised, was released in August 2005. The title track, “I Don’t Need You”, was co-written by Maia herself, and she also performed 3 Mandarin tracks in the English album.

Since 2004, she has performed for both big and small scale concerts and functions in Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, and U.A.E.

Known for her off-hand endearing self, Maia never balks at potentially sensitive questions nor situations; and it is that wit she has that got her engaged by The New Paper as a celebrity interviewer/columnist. She is currently a Star Blogger with STOMP (Straits Times Online Mobile Print), with her weekly columns on various current topics.

Voted as 8th sexiest woman in local men’s magazine, FHM World’s Most Sexiest Women 2005, Maia was also awarded the “Most Outspoken Babe” Award. She has also graced the cover of both Motor Culture Asia and HOTstuff magazines.

REBEL STARR

When asked to explain why the group, consisting of Back Wordz from Queens and Likwuid from South Carolina, chose the name Rebel Starr, yes spelled with two R’s, the male and female duet and proud 80’s babies almost simultaneously respond “because as ‘Rebels’ we believe in political and socieo-economic consciousness and intentionally use every word you see in our raps ala Public Enemy or Dead President and ‘Starr’ because we are hip hop Rock stars who love to have a fun and make good music”.

These two kindred spirits not only share a similar love for hip hop but the two are soul connected by the astrological sign of Aquarius. Foregoing their individual accomplishments from street battles, emcee challenges and underground showcases the two decided to join forces and take on the Music Industry as a tandem. Often compared to the likes of Jean Grae and Mos Def, the pair have performed throughout the East Coast; opening for artist such as Bow Wow, DJ Unk, and DJ Webstar and Young B. With cunning word play, and underlying tones of symbolism, Rebel Starr looks to take the world by storm with subtle messages and music that can knock the ‘thump’ out of any speakers.

The group's debut single “Look What I Can Do” is such an effort that looks into the group's ‘fun’ side. The single is an ode to the vanguards of the 80’s Hip Hop and dancing era that sends you back to a better place in rap music history when all that mattered was the size of the cardboard to do head-spins and that your flattop was even as you ‘whopped’ all night long. The groups 07 delivery combined with producer Ced L Young’s rhythmic bass line will have Soul Train lines popping up all across America guaranteed.

And looking down the road for Rebel Starr the group expects an album full of meaningful and sonically pleasing joints, ensuring continued billboard success. But at this time the group wants everyone to ‘expect the unexpected’ and feel rest assured the album when it is done will be ‘true magic. So sit back, relax and enjoy the ride because we know that true magic last only a moment, and once you miss it, it’s gone forever.
